my bfw hard disk is 80 GB
i set the first partition 1 GB for BFW system
and i made second partition 20 GB
can i share data like (movies games songs .. etc) on second partition
and users can browse it like FTP and copy folders and files from BFW pc to their pcs
like a shared folder on lan

EX:-
//10.0.0.53/games (a shared folder on lan example)
//10.0.0.2/data (can my bfw gateway be like it)

Add Samba. Add a SANS system.

Here is my standard answer to questions like this: This is BrazilFW Firewall and Router.

Its job is to protect the perimeter of your LAN like a security team you hire to protect your property. This is the only job it (they) should do. This is not a utility machine to run all kinds of applications on.

Scenario: (to the security team) "Hey guys, the day is slow; would you mind delivering the mail. Oh, and file these documents in the cabinets and ...do the dishes and mop the floors too." In the meantime someone is jumping the fence in the back of the property but your guy does not have his eyes on the cameras or is outside the room washing dishes.

Anything else you add to your security system that is not related to security is somethiing that can be compromised. The last thing you want is a comproised security system.

You want a utility machine, build a Ubuntu or Suse or whatever flavour of Linux you like; or put in a 2k/XP server.

You think you are saving by using that spare 80 G that is doing nothing? You are wrong.
Don't take my word. I am just the moderator of a BrazilFW forum. Go to any heavy duty firewall forum and ask if it is a good idea to use the excess disk space of your security system for file sharing. Be prepared for the replies.

i need this on BFW instead of my pc
EX:-
http://10.0.0.2:8186/
this port (8186) point to the directory /partition/bandwidthd/htdocs
and i added folder named data in it /partition/bandwidthd/htdocs/data
i can access the data in /partition/bandwidthd/htdocs/data as http://
the problem is i want access it like ftp a window to browse files and folders to copy them
i can make a custom web page for my clints holding all data as links to download them
but when data is a game for example hold too many files and folders and i can't compress them.
i prefer an ftp shape

EX:-
http://10.0.0.2:8186/data/123.mp3
http://10.0.0.2:8186/data/spiderman.avi
http://10.0.0.2:8186/data/antiarp.exe
http://10.0.0.2:8186/data/maxpayne.rar
********************************
i wish if users could browse and copy them instead of downloading them
my regards
