Mensagempor Iulian » Qua Abr 01, 2009 7:21 am

Hello,

What is each rc.d:

rc.dhcp
rc.dnsmasq
rc.firewall
rc.inet
rc.line_up
rc.loadbalance
rc.local
rc.M
rc.masquerade
rc.modules
rc.ppp
rc.pppoe
rc.qos
rc.qos.coyote
rc.qos.custom
rc.qos.subnet
rc.S
rc.subnet
rc.sysinit

and what are the commands for each (start, load, reload, restart, stop etc.)?

Different scripts to initiate the system. It is unimportant what each does but if you want to know just open them with a text editor and read what they say.

As an example, here are three things that XP load when it boots: srservice, stisvc, TrkWks.
Does it make a difference what they do?

Another example: all commercial routers (D-Link, Linksys, etc) use an embedded Linux inside like BFW and they would all have an rc.d script. What does each do? Most people turn it on and the router works.
