add-ons easy install

Mensagempor nachazo » Qui Abr 27, 2006 12:33 pm

Hi claudio i have a nice idea....

I was thinking that i could do an add-on thats install ad-onns via webmin...

but for this i need that add-ons has a clear link in download section....

At the moment the download section has no a direct link to the tgz file...

if you can modify this with a direct link....

i can do a automatic script that download the add-on, mounts the file sistem and copy the tgz to /mnt....

It´s an idea....

regards.

The better way to do this, is to downloading a list first. Something like this:

package-name,description,version,size,url
package-name,description,version,size,url
package-name,description,version,size,url
package-name,description,version,size,url

Then the script could parse the list, check what you have already, and/or which versions do you have. Offer that list in a page and then let the user choose what he want to download and install.

The url for the list must be fixed, of course.

I don't think you need to upload. Just download. From here.

We can keep the list and the files at this site.
Then you can program something like the Norton Live Update.

Gostei da idéia !!!!

Ai é so manter os arquivos sempre organizado e no mesmo lugar no servidor.
Porem o que ia acontecer com add-ons novos ?

what will happen with new add-ons?

Sure.

Porem o que ia acontecer com add-ons novos ?

Translating: What would happens to new add-ons?

It's simple.
When BrazilFW team aprove a new add-on, one of us would upload it to our site and edit the list adding its line to the end.

WebAdmin 2006 by MPG already has this function. You can download any add-on directly from the Web Administrator. Check it out  http://mpg.com.br/brazilfw/site.php?i=8 (right at the bottom of the page)

Well, just click on the British flag. You'll get an automatic translation. Bear in mind it's not 100% accurate, but it's better than nothing, right?

Mensagempor tarsius » Qua Ago 23, 2006 4:35 pm

hi
i've been trying to do something like this, in fact it worked, but it's still beta... the thing is, if you download a package using wget during "run time" and then unzip it and launch the scripts on /etc/rc.d/pkgs you won't be able to save the configs... so... the thing would be to find a way to "unify" config files so that every config file is on the same directory...
